I agree 100% with the statement from Gary Vaynerchuk above, the best team always wins.
So that means your employees are your number 1 asset.
Your team is your number 1 asset.
Ask yourself this. Are you focused on building the best team? What did you do today to help your team? What do you do each week to help? How much do you really focus on your team?
I often get asked about benefits we offer employees at Growthwise, what we recommend for businesses and what is "normal" in different Industries. It's easy to jump on google and search for different perks offered in different industries, but that's just going to ensure your business is the same as every other.
If you are building the best team, the one who will help you win the game called business, you need to ensure you actually care about them. Which means you will have listened to what they need, what they want. You will already be building this into your company culture.
The success of a business is highly reliant on brilliant leadership
When your employees are engaged and motivated they perform much better. They stay with you much longer. They are much happier, which in turn means your work environment & business will perform much much better.
What's the best thing that has worked for growthwise?
I'm always looking at how we can improve as a business and as a team. We all work hard (in sedentary jobs) so it's important we take care of our bodies as well.
In November last year we Introduced Physio 2 Your Desk a wonderful fortnightly program from Next-Gen Physio.
The difference a few months of this has made to the team is amazing.
Each fortnight the Next-Gen team come into our office and spend 10-15 min with each person. We each get a neck and back massage, shown correct posture and a few exercises to help us. Now that is nice but the real magic happens in the 15 min the Next-Gen team spend with us at the end.
Each fortnight we learn something new, and are given a series of things to do. There have been some very interesting giggles in our stretch sessions! The stand out for us has been implementing the 20min move rule.
Tom from Next-Gen challenged us to implement a rule where we have to move every 20 min. This can be as simple as just standing up or as complex as the push up competitions that happen with a few of the team every so often!
Our resident geek Beau has set a timer so that every 20 min a short snippet of music plays. Everyone in the team gets up and moves. Now this might seem fairly simple but everyone is much more conscious of movement. We do this as a team. We get to clear our heads every 20 min.
I interviewed Tom on the importance of our bodies on productivity, morale and performance.
Now there are thousands of things you can do for your team. There are thousands of perks you can introduce in your business. But these must fit your culture. They must help build the wining team.
What's working in your business?
P.S The Next-Gen team can actually come into your business as well!
