You can always look up what Xero has released by heading over to the help section of Xero. They update each new release here.
But it's not always easy to understand what the update is all about or how this will impact your business. We write about these each week as part of our Xero Tip of the week.
So let's run through a few of the latest releases and how they are beneficial to your business :)
Bank
Did you know that you can search transactions really easily in Xero. Our favourite way of searching for transactions is to look at the bank statements tab. From the Dashboard click Manage next to your bank account and click on Bank Statements. You can now see ALL of the transactions that have been imported into Xero (in a new look), whether they are reconciled or unreconciled etc. Clicking on the search button will allow you to search for ALL transactions from a payee or by amount or within a certain date range.
Payment Services
There are now even more payment services that integrate with Xero. This means you have more options to choose from so that your clients can pay using the big green pay now button on your Invoices. The latest payment service to be added to the list is Braintree. It's important you make it as easy as possible for your clients to pay you so having a payment service setup is awesome.
Copying
We love being able to #banadmin at growthwise. That means we love not having to type information or double handle data. So we get really excited about copy and paste functions!
You have been able to copy invoices for quite some time now in Xero which is awesome if you need to sell the same thing you sold to the customer last time or the same thing to another customer. But now you can also copy to a quote or purchase order or bill. Xero wrote a great post last month about how to use the new feature.
Reports
Data is king in every single business. It's crucial to helping you make great decisions. Xero has some great reports but sometimes you want to drill even further or filter these reports. Xero have certainly been working on this with new filters and an entire new reports section. Look out for our Xero Tip next week as we explore the ins and outs of reports in detail.
Assurance Dashboard
One of the other major releases from Xero was the assurance dashboard. This is a release designed for us accountants. It allows us to monitor anomalies in your file. Like if bank statement lines have been deleted or if contacts have the same bank account details. These are both important to ensure fictitious bills aren't being entered in and paid to people that are not your suppliers etc. It's a neat little tool that helps us check on the data integrity of your file. We think of it as our little audit check.
Some bigger releases we have summarised earlier
We are always trying to break these releases down into what it means for your business in practical terms, so make sure you sign up to our Weekly Ninja News so you never miss a Xero Tip, or head on over to our Facebook Page and hit Like and turn on notifications so you don't miss a post.
