Electronic Signing? Why do I have to sign my return?
You are required to sign your Income Tax Return before we can lodge. It's the law for us accountants. We use an electronic system so we don't have to kill any trees. This also makes the process way faster than snail mail.
Growthwise use E-sign (part of Xero) to speed up the time between preparing and lodging your return. We no longer need to post your return to you for signature and wait to get it back. With E-Sign it's instant. We send you an email. You review your doc, press the signing button and we get your signed return back. Not sure of the process? Check out this awesome step by step (with video) on what you need to do once you receive an email from us.
Oh and the Law requires that you sign off to say your return is true and correct. We are not allowed to lodge your return until you have signed.
Can I sign on Paper?
No. We love trees at Growthwise :)
We also love efficiency. Our process is built for signing using E-Sign only.
My Tax File Number isn't on my return. Does that matter?
Certainly not.
When we Print (to PDF) your return we take this off so people don't have all your personal information. It still gets lodged with the ATO, just not printed on the form.
How long will the ATO take to process my refund?
Unfortunately we don't make the rules or process the Refunds with the ATO. Standard Service time frame is 28 days. Ringing us won't make your refund process quicker :)
Remember you need to pay us + sign your return before we press the lodge button.

I want to see person x but they don't seem to be available
We all work really hard at Growthwise. We love helping our small business clients and work our little freckles off to ensure we do everything we can to help them Think, Learn, Grow & Kick-Arse in business. We also do some great community work + run events for business owners.
We are human though and only have 24 hours in our days.
We only prepare personal Income Tax Returns on Saturday
We only have a couple of face to face appointments available for the year, you can find ALL availabilities online
We do have plenty more phone appointments available though.
How do I move my appointment?
Find your Confirmation Email from Timely. This would have been sent to you as soon as you booked. There is a green button - View or change my appointment. Click that and you will be able to reschedule.
I don't have my PAYG Payment Summary
These things no longer exist. Employers are now required to report to the ATO each time payroll is processed. That means the ATO already has this information, and when you complete your online questionnaire we request copies of these from the ATO. One less thing for you to worry about!
I don't have all my stuff together yet. Can I still book my Appointment?
No. We only have limited times we prepare Income Tax Returns. We therefore need to ensure you have everything before you even book the appointment.
I drive a lot for work. What can I claim
This is another tricky area. We've produced a detailed answer for you here
I've got a Rental Property. What can I claim?
Loads of things! We've got some detail as well as a neat little spreadsheet to help you summarise everything.
I sold my Rental Property during the year. What do I need to bring?
The Settlement Statement for both the Purchase and Sale of the Property. You should also bring your Loan Statements, your Depreciation Schedule + any other legal documents from both the Sale and Purchase.
I work from home what can I claim?
There have been loads of changes to the documentation you have to keep if you work from home.
I've got Shares. What do I need to bring?
You need to bring all the Dividend Statements for your Shares with you. Most Australian Companies pay 2 dividends each year. You also need to declare the Dividend Income even if you Reinvest the money into more Shares.
Seem like too much work to dig out all your Dividends. You should checkout what we do with Sharesight.
I sold some Shares during the year. What do I need to bring?
The Original Buy Contract for the Shares as well as the Sell Contract. If you have been in a Dividend Reinvestment Plan (ie you didn't receive Dividend Income rather Reinvested it in more shares) you will need to bring in EVERY dividend statement for that Company you have ever received.
That's way too hard right? We know. That's why we are Sharesight experts. Keep track of your entire portfolio and never have to worry about calculating your Capital Gain again.
Getting organised for tax sucks. Is there an easier way?
There sure is! Very few people get really excited about combing through piles of receipts for Tax Time. And most people buy everything they need for work on a credit card or from their bank account.
All the Growthwise gang are just as annoyed at having to organise everything for our own returns for tax time so we did something about it.
Check out your wealth portal. It brings in all your bank and credit card transactions during the year. Everything is auto categorised and all you need to do is tag the expenses that are tax related. Tag an expense that is recurring once and it will automatically remember to include in your tax deductions report!
Check out how your personal wealth portal can help you get organised for tax time.
