Xero understand that Small Business owners are mobile. They don't spend their 10 hours a day working tied to a desk and computer. So it's great to see the progress for Xero iPhone and Android apps continuously being built out.
You can easily invoice on the run, capture all of your receipts, add photos to invoices and even reconcile. You can look up your customer and supplier details, get directions, call them in 1 click and see who owes you money. Your employees can enter timesheets, review payslips and apply for leave.
All from the convenience of that little device in your pocket.

But part of going mobile is ensuring you have the right systems setup to make life easier.
Checklist
After you have downloaded the Xero App the 1st thing you need to do is look at what features you want to use.
- Can you be preparing quotes and invoices while still at your customers?
- Could you be reconciling a chunk of transactions on your bank accounts and credit cards each morning while waiting in line for your coffee?
- Could you be approving timesheets while waiting for your kids to finish soccer practice?
Step 2 is to sort out the what you need setup to make using your Mobile a breeze.
- If you are quoting or invoices you really need items setup. The last thing you want to be doing is typing on your mobile!
- You want to make sure that your Invoice Template is customised to have ALL the detail you need. And remember you can setup numerous Invoice templates so all you have to do is pick the one when you are quoting or invoicing.
- Make sure you have your email templates setup so you don't have to type any text when you are sending quotes or invoices.
- You want to ensure you make it easy for your customers to pay you so make sure you have Pay Now setup.
- If you are reconciling on the run make sure you have great Bank Rules setup. This will ensure you only have to click the OK button on many of your transactions.
- You also really want to ensure your contacts in Xero are setup in full. We see so many people not using this part of Xero. As with all parts of your business data is king. You need your contacts up to date so you can use reports to see which customers are spending the most with you not to mention a database of your customer and supplier contact details.
Lastly, you want to make sure you have processes in place to ensure your team know what they can be using the Xero App for as well.
